About me
Hi, my name is Jayde
And I have spent my entire life around horses. Born in Surrey, England but raised in Spain, I consider myself extremely lucky to have a grandmother who was horse-obsessed. It was this obsession that convinced my horse-scared mother to allow me to try it too, at the age of 3 years old. Since then, I have been hooked and I have never looked back since.
My love for horses only grew with age. I began competing in Dressage predominately, but I could be found around a 1.20m course from time-to-time. Dressage, as taught by the original school masters became my dream, my inspiration. At that time, I was riding between 5-7 horses per day all at different levels. My own horse at the time was a 17hh flaxen chestnut Anglo-Arab gelding called Gin & Tonic Jumper who was at the highest level I rode, which was PSG. He stayed with me until the age of 21 where he suddenly passed away.
Sadly, a small accident & a weak spine put a stop to competitive riding, so I got a wonderful weekend job of teaching 2yr colts some ground manners. I was particularly fond of a small bay KWPN colt who I nicknamed Bollycao (a small sweet bun filled with hazelnut chocolate, similar to a Twinkie).
With studies, life and commitments catching up to me I had to give up my little job but I always had the idea that horses would be involved in my career in some way, I just didn't know how.
Fast forward many years, I can proudly say that I have worked as a groom for a very busy (40 horses) livery yard doing the evening shift, I have clipped, I have nursed, I have volunteered for a well-known horse rescue charity in my local area which involved some gruesome jobs, I have raised two colt foals from infancy to adulthood with impeccable manners, kindness & empathy and now, since 18yrs old I own a popular & very successful tack shop.
I can hand-on-heart say that I am doing what I should be doing. My favourite part of my work is seeing my customers happiness. Knowing that their next encounter with their beloved horse is going to be a happy memory - that is the most fulfilling part of my job. And that I get to hoard saddle pads, and call it ''stock''!
Horses deserve quality items, their riders deserve quality items & their handlers deserve quality items. And I believe all of you should have exactly that, without paying a penny more than its worth.
My ethos with my shop is the same as it was when I was raising youngsters; kindness, empathy & manners. It's bad mannered to not give you every second of my attention, it's unkind to expect you to pay more for an item than it's worth, and it's apathetic to not extend my discounts to you.
I am not the biggest tack shop in Spain, and I don't want to be. I want to be better than myself yesterday, and continuously offer you better each day as it comes.
I spend my weekends cuddling my two horses, and anyone else's for that matter!
That's including my clients horses! They all seem to love it when I tickle their noses (I have a particular soft spot for pink noses!)
