Linseed oil contains plenty of essential fatty acids. Sufficient intake of omega-3 fatty acids is important because they can prevent tissue damage caused by local inflammation and strain.

Omega fatty acids are also important for the condition of joints, intestines, mucous membranes, skin and coat.

The healthiness of linseed oil is based on the amount of its unsaturated fatty acids. Approximately 60% of fatty acids of linseed oil are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) belonging to omega-3 fatty acids.

Linseed oil also contains vitamins A and E, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and calcium.

Linseed oil is an excellent source of energy. The addition level can be recommended for about 2 - 5% of feed weight.
